POEMS AND SONG LYRICS

I came across the following song lyric in my searches.  I have not heard the song.  The words very closely describe what happened with me.  The abuser says, "I hit you, because I love you."  and a part of us wants to believe instead admitting the truth to ourselves.  We justify to ourselves  the abuser strikes out, because of love.  The feelings of shame and humiliation at finding ourselves in the situation and not walking out.

He Hit Me (It Felt Like a Kiss)

Written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King

He hit me and it felt like a kiss

He hit me but it didn't hurt me

He couldn't stand to hear me say

That I had been with someone new

And when I told him I had been untrue

He hit me and it felt like a kiss

He hit and I knew he loved me

'Cause if he didn't care for me

I could have never made him mad

And he hit me and I was glad

Baby won't you stay

He hit me and it felt like a kiss

He hit and I knew I loved him

'Cause when he took me in his arms

With all the tenderness there is

He hit me and he made me feel

Baby won't you stay

The following poem was written by a good friend of mine.  We were going much the same things and asking the same questions when it was  written.  I felt it  appropriate for here.  These poems may not copied or reproduced in any way.

My World

by mishelle90 - michelle

Welcome to my world, come on in

A world alone to only begin

Here you will find no hope, only doubt

A shadow of pain lurks about

There is no laughter only tears

There is no happiness only fears

There is no truth only lies

My soul fading away to slowly die

Here you will find no smiles, no cheerful thoughts

Blackness is the only true thing sought

Here there is no winning, only defeat

There are no promises only deceit

Welcome to my world where i live

No way out, no way to forgive

Welcome to my world where i hide

A place to run, a place to confide

There is nothing here, but despair

Can you feel the hatred in the air

There is no longer life, only a waste

Failure screaming in my face

The only thing to understand in confusion

Happiness is now an illusion

                                                    Welcome to my world
